  1. Transportation Engineering (TTE4004)
This is an undergraduate course that provides a broad base of transportation and traffic knowledge to civil engineering students. The course covers transportation modes, geometric design, vehicular flow models, capacity of intersections, highway capacity, transportation planning, demand forecasting models, air quality and energy impacts of transportation. Taught as ITV in Spring 2000 and 2001
  2. Transportation Safety Analysis (TTE6315)
This is a graduate course that introduces the students to the concepts underlying traffic safety. The course addresses several topics, among these topics are risk and exposure, driver and roadway factors, highway safety improvements, and modeling accident occurrence. This course was introduced for the first time by Dr. M. Abdel-Aty in Fall 1996 as TTE 5315. It is the only course that addresses traffic safety in the state
  3. Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (TTE5805)
This is an undergraduate/graduate course that covers all aspects of the highway and street design. Topics covered include the design elements (horizontal and vertical alignment), design controls and criteria, functional classification of highways, the relation between highway capacity and geometric design, grade separations and interchanges, and intersections. The course promotes both qualitative and quantitative methods of reasoning and analysis
  4. Regional Planning (CGN6655)
This is a graduate course that mainly covers the four steps planning process in transportation. Lectures cover trip generation, distribution, modal split, and traffic assignment methods. The course also looks at the inter-relation between land use and transportation planning. Several analytical and computer applications are used in the course
